These cruises are generally one day each in October, November, January, February and March, to pub or club lunch destinations within The Solent not much more than a couple of hours sail each way. Dates are advertised on the notice board two or three weeks ahead, with the venue confirmed a day or two in advance, in the light of the forecast. Members indicating an interest to the Captain of Cruising are contacted by email and those participating on a particular day assemble then at 0900 at the club, for pre-departure briefing on destination and lunch arrangements. Recent venues have included Warsash, Beaulieu (Gins), Newtown, Cowes and a 2 day trip to Haslar.
Some Club members wishing to attend may not have boats (or may have their boat out of the water), if so they can travel by road or contact the organiser, who will endeavour to find them a crewing position for the day.
The 2011-12 programme started in October 2011 with a lunch cruise to Warsash Sailing Club, followed in November by the Island Sailing Club, Cowes, in January the New Inn at Shalfleet, in February a record 25 boats and 110 persons to Gin's Farm and in March a 2 day cruise to Ocean Village.
By popular request, a trial extension of the winter lunch cruises into April, May, June and August been arranged. On 24 April some 33 members and 8 boats went to the RAF YC, Hamble, in what turned out to be the only decent weather for 10 days or so.
