The International 420 class is the ideal youth boat for sailors moving on from optimist and cadet.
If you are looking for a great racing fleet, a really fun boat to sail (real spinnaker & trapeze), with a fantastic youth social scene, 420 is for you!
Royal Lymington has a great tradition in this class with National Champions in all of the last three years. The current active group of 420 sailors, both boys & girls, of a range of ages and ability - new comers to elite.
There is training at the club most weekends, and regular organised coached days. There are often opportunities to helm or crew for those who haven’t found a regular partner yet.
The club is hosting two events where there will be racing in the Solent, Youth and Family Week 10th – 14th August 2009, and the Youth and Open Regatta 19th/20th September 2009.
For further details of training, coaching or the events, email the Class Captain Carlton Dodd.
There are two ways that junior sailors can become Members of the Yacht Club:
1. Full Family Membership
If a parent or both parents join then any children under 18 years of age can become family Members. This is the preferred way and offers lots more benefits, such as subsidised coaching, cheaper tariff in the bar & restaurant, full use of the Club's facilities, access to training courses and opportunities to support the Youths & Juniors.
2. Junior Membership
Children/Youths aged 8 – 17 can join in their own right as Junior Members. The annual subscription is the only as much as the cost of a buoyancy aid, however there are additional costs for coaching, which don't apply to family members.
For more information on Membership click here, or email the Membership Secretary. Alternatively you can email the Class Captain.
